The A537 from Macclesfield to Buxton, named after the inn near the top, one of the highest in England. It climbs out of Cheshire onto the moors in a long run of open bends, with the Cheshire Plain falling away behind, and crosses the top by the inn before dropping towards Buxton.
Its bends have long drawn motorcyclists, and a reputation with them. Take it steadily, keep to your side on the blind ones, and let the views do the work.
