The N71 climbs out of Glengarriff into the Caha Mountains, with Bantry Bay below, and near the top it goes through the rock in a run of short tunnels, crossing from Cork into Kerry as it does. On the far side it runs down through Bonane to Kenmare.

The tunnels are narrow and their roofs are low, so a tall van or a caravan will want a careful look first. It's a main road, and quieter than the Ring of Kerry, which it meets at Kenmare.
