The N71 climbs out of Kenmare to Moll's Gap, a notch in the ridge named after Moll Kissane, who ran a shebeen up here while the road was being built in the 1820s. Over the top it runs down in long bends towards the Upper Lake and Ladies View, with the mountains of Killarney National Park all round.
It's on the Ring of Kerry, so in summer it's busy with coaches, which all go round anticlockwise, from Killarney first. There's a café and a car park at the gap itself, and Ladies View has its own, a few miles on.
