The R560 climbs out of Dingle over the mountains along the spine of the peninsula, one of the highest roads in Ireland, and drops to Brandon Bay on the far side. From the car park at the top you can see both coasts: Dingle Bay behind you, and the long beaches of the north ahead.

The north side is the narrow part, a single lane along the cliff above a corrie lake, so be ready to wait at a wider place for whoever's coming. Caravans, campervans and lorries aren't allowed over it, and it can close in snow.
