The R756 runs east from Hollywood up the valley into the mountains, climbs to the Wicklow Gap between Tonelagee and Turlough Hill, and drops down the far side past old lead mine workings to Glendalough and Laragh.
The reservoir on top of Turlough Hill belongs to a power station inside the mountain, which pumps the water up when there's power to spare and lets it down when there isn't. The top of the gap is high and exposed, and it closes in snow.
