The R759 climbs from near Roundwood into the mountains, along the rim of the valley above Lough Tay, the dark lake with a pale beach that's called the Guinness Lake, and on across the bog to the Sally Gap, where it crosses the Military Road.
Lough Tay is on a private estate, so the view from the road is the thing, and the lay-bys above it can be busy at weekends. On the tops the road is narrow and exposed, and snow closes it in winter.
